Went out to Cooks Bay today and flight cancelled due to high winds. If I took off I was afraid that I'd be taking video of Eygpt! Yes, the one in Georgina!!

The drone is a DJI Phantom Vision 2+.
You can buy them on their own for $1400 to $1500.
By the time you get extras like wifi extender, extra props, extra batteries and a good case, you are looking at over $2000. I'm a GoPro fan and this seemed like the next evolution.

When I was out I saw geese sitting on the edge of the ice that has formed from Old Homestead Road and south. The skim ice I saw yesterday has been pushed to shore due to whitecaps and high winds.

I haven't flown out to other parts of the lake but as time and weather permits I will expand my flight areas.

Cheers

Thanks so much for the great vids sstacey. I was thinking I might like one of those myself but I've blown way too much on toys this year.

Wait a minute, tomorrow's another year.

Couldn't agree more..... I tell my wife... but this is just the next natural step up....oh wait....what's that?? OMG now that is kewl!

When are you and the girls going out again?
Oh, no reason, just trying to keep up and make sure I keep myself busy!

No, no....I have enough toys....don't you worry your pretty head!!

*Evil Grin*

A week later I'm taking a page out of her playbook.... I know honey but it was on sale, as a package..... a deal like this will never come around again... You should be thankful... I researched it and I assure you we saved quite a bit!

some food for thought;

http://www.theobserver.ca/2014/12/27/montr...or-flying-drone

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/stan...id=1zfhj#safety

Model Air Craft owners and flyers all subscribe to a society called MACC which gives them some level of insurance.

Love the video's but with the access to "drones" getting easier, and the obvious growing popularity Transport Canada will be getting more and more involved.

Even the most seasoned remote aircraft operators can have bad days.
