I just have a regular size bait bucket and minnows live all weekend. Just keep them cold, if you have them on the other side of the hut away from the furnace they should be good. I throw in some snow if they start to go belly up and like magic they pop back to life. The colder the water the better, they'll live for days.

Hi to all members . Newbie to the board and heading up to Anglers Haven Feb11th to 13th
I have ice fished Simcoe many times but never did the over night thing
Any pointers on what to bring up and what not to would be great
Thanks

Besides the obvious, rods, license and such. I highly recommend baby wipes for you morning ritual and a aerator for the bucket of minnows. Money well spent in my books.

X2 on aerator. My aerator keeps my minnows alive for weeks if need be!

I can't personally recommend one or another but this is the one I use. Runs on D batteries

just add snow or ice to the water when it melts it gives of oxygen....and also just scoop water from the pail and pour it back from a couple feet above it it also forces oxygen back in ,basically what a aerator does

Why not keep the minnows under the ice in a minnow pail? It works well in the summer and I can tell you it is just as effective in the winter.

This is the question
Are the holes in the bungalow large enough so the bait bucket sits in properly ?

Just keep them cold never had an issue, they will live all weekend. Aerator, is just another thing to get in the way, any d batteries aren't cheep.

Worth the money and the cost of the batteries in my opinion, lively minnows catch fish and an aerator keeps them lively.

key here is lively minnows, not ones that are just alive, I brig up 2 square pails and they fit into the holes nicely. also do water changes 2 times daily at minimum to ensure good kicker minnows. some days it doesn't matter, but most days it will pay off gl
