So I have been looking on line at all the portable huts on the market.
I thought it would be best to get recommendations from all you crazy fishermen here

I am looking for something that is easy to set up either by myself or with my 7 year old son?

I will be pulling this on a sled as well with all the other gear I am buying on all your recommendations

It all depends on your buget, Otter is one of the most expensive one but they are built tough but again depends on your buget. Myself I have a clam 1 man flip over but it's clams first models but I love it...

I love my Eskimo 3 man. Insulated and good stand up room. Only complaint would be buddies big buddies Eskimo has a slightly larger fishing area but doesnít have the stand up room. I got mine for around $200 from Canadian tire on sale

X2 on the Eskimo, we've had a 3 man for years and it's still going strong. My dad bought the same one a couple of years ago and loves it too. Just remember they're like tents, a three man sits 2 comfortably.

I have the Eskimo 5. Itís huge. Can stand up anywhere inside. 8 windows 2 doors. Great zippers and anchors. I wish it was the insulated one but it works great. Lots of room. I find it sets up better than the 4 sided ones.

I have Clam XL4000t. Thermal, legit quilted on the inside. Nearly 90sq ft fishing area. Lots of space, holds heat well. A little on the large size but houses all kinds of gear. Quite often Iíll fish in bin pants and t-shirt. Iíve heard good thing about the Otter products as well.

Hope that helps,

Blake

I'm waiting on my Quickfish 5 to be delivered. It's my first hut as I just started ice fishing with my family. Can 4-6 people fish comfortably? I'm sure it will fish 4 very easily, but I plan on having some friends tag along also.

Always aim for one less fisherman in the huts... You'll find 3 is comfortable and 4 will be shoulder to shoulder. In my quickfish 3, 1 is super nice to sprawl, 2 is comfortable and 3 would be tripping over each other and stepping in holes to get out the doors.

As for set up though, stupid easy and easy to put back into the back. pop pop pop x2 more pops and the hut is up, peg it down and you're fishing. Set a peg way out if it's windy because the support will snap inwards if pointed into the wind.

Otherwise, with a heater in the insulated hut, you can fish without a jacket and gloves on and holes don't freeze over.

You'll love it. Pick up a Mr buddy heater as well if you don't already own one.

I set it up in my basement to learn how it all works. Pretty easy the second time I did it so I am glad I tried it inside first.

Ohhhhh and my wife officially thinks I am nuts

Wish the insulated Eskimo 5 was on sale, I wonder if would be possible to add insulation.
