Headed up on Sunday, to bring the boat or not, that is the question

Supposed to be a nice calm day wind wise and some sun, about time

worse than this? that's pretty bad this year . and I remember some bad years. drove past the crighton street boat launch this evening lot of ice out there, I don't think any one will be going far in a boat.

in the 30 plus years I've been it I don't recall it happening before. could have when I was a kid cause back then I didn't care what the date was just that my dad said it was time to fish

No it won't be pushed back. The organizers have been pretty clear that they expect the fishing to be really, really slow as the perch have not come in to the lake in any numbers yet but I may head down a little later today to wet my line anyway...

They havent even got any tagged perch released yet . I keep hearing on the radio they need people to bring in live perch so they can tag them.

Hey Richby; Did you hear this on a local radio station about waiting for perch to be brought in to tag ??

This is a major event for Orillia , I find it hard to believe that there would not be 60 tagged perch in the swim at the derby open today .. Surely the organizers would ensure the prizes are avaliable from day one ??

Perhaps someone from the derby officials can answer this ..

Yes its been on kicks 106 every day all week. Doug Bunker? the organizer has been calling in and giving updates every day. They are asking for people to bring in perch approx 10" to be tagged to the blue beacon ... Every 10 perch you bring in they put your name in a draw for 100$ worth of fishing gear ...
