Hi all. I asked for a few tips a couple weeks ago and thought I'd give a quick report on the trip this past weekend.
First of all, this was a fantastic route. Relatively easy, but out of the way enough that the lake wasn't busy. One portage going in from Iceland Lake and a scenic paddle in.
We stayed on the island camp site near the north west end of the lake. Very picturesque and spacious.
As for the fishing, great results for a canoe trip! Got a 25 in Walleye (skinniest 25 incher I've ever caught), several nice bass and a pike. Was able to keep one 16 inch walleye as for breakfast one day.
I'd highly recommend this trip if you like a little back country camping and good fishing.

The walleye were hitting in about 10-12 feet of water, and there is great fishing from shore off the southwest campsite, where we stopped for lunch one day.

Cheers
