I'm planning on fishing tomorrow night for some crappie and was wondering what you guys do or think about night time lights while you are fishing. Do you find lights help or should I keep my lighting to a minimum in my portable hut? Does it help to have light bright by the hole or farther away? Any advice would be great as I am new to crappie fishing. Thanks!

That’s a good question to ask the mnr they have been out on the kawartha lakes in the past charging fisherman with using lights at night to attract fish....

Pg 8 of the regs specifies "Use artificial lights to attract fish except:

to fish for smelt, or to fish for Lake Whitefish or Lake Herring with a dip net

if the light is part of a lure attached to a line used in angling."

So if the light is in your hut so you can see, and within reason, I don't see there being a problem. If the purpose of the light is to attract fish you may have some issues on your hand. Stay warm, gonna be a cold one.
