For your first time I would recommend going to Lake Simcoe. You might want to use a hut operator that you can see at the top of this page. If you arenít going with an operator I would recommend cooks bay Gilford. If you want to stay in the Kawarthas the best action is most likely rice lake unless you want to go more north. If you just want to get out Scugog is an option. Stay safe and donít get too close to other peoples holes!

Tons of info online about ice fishing all areas. Kawarthas has Chemong and Rice Lake. There are good bait shops with people who can help you in Bridgenorth and Bewdley, but do some scouting around and see where others are fishing. Bewdley is popular and South of the causeway in Bridgenorth, Navionics has a good hydrographic maps that will tell you fairly accurate lake depths, the more prepared you are the more success you will have. Good luck.

I agree with the operator. Just to get started. Tim Hales in Beaverton is outstanding for Perch. You can cook on the heater. Best grilled cheeses out on the ice! For Lakers or White fish Bear Point huts! Haven't been but hear only good things about them! Let us know how you make out!
