I've sent an e-mail to Wil Wegman at the MNR asking about this.

If anyone knows, if this is enforceable and how, he will.

I let you know what I get back.

He should have been b#### slapped with each one of those walleye. While they were still frozen, fins flared of course.

Sounds good, but how do we know he will pay the fine or how do we force him to pay the fine?

SDC

It's the government if he works on the books they will take it directly after a while or jail . Pretty sure it can also suspend your license if not paid .

Enforcing a fine on a Canadian is one thing!

This guy was from Michigan!

I'm not sure what can be done to force him to pay. The article didn't say anything about him being in court when the case was heard.

SDC

Yea didn't notice he was an American lol. What a basterd he has plenty of walleye closer to him lol. Why did he drive so far and take our fish.

He will be forced to pay this fine. I read this quickly but it's a fine issued by the government not local authorities and if not paid the government can go across the border and get more then the fine is if not paid within given time structure. I could be wrong but have somewhat an idea how this works with governments.

Yeah. Like someone once told me that no fisherman (not even a single one whatsoever) from THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is a good fisherman, which I think many of you fully and 100% agree...

I wonder how many other times he got away with this many fish having a separate false compartment with a built in chest freezer in the motor home .

Ministry officer should have take a different approach and seized everything on the spot used to get him there to catch fish. + tow truck fees , impound storage fees + fines .... until a heaftier fine is paid .

Sounds like a slap on the wrist .

Guy will be back out again with or without a license doing the same thing with those fines .

most likely does/did that on every excursion.

far as seizing equipment, I am not up on that specific law 100% but do recall 'commission" of offence comes into play....

believe they would have if could have performed full seizures.

Also, I am with Ralph on this one again.......getting a fine is one thing.paying is another

@James....that's a stretch over the top don't you think

My wife is American.

Her family always came to eastern Ontario every summer for a fishing vacation. They ALWAYS fished according to the regulations.

There are poachers on both sides of the border.

To the US comments about all being horrible... I donít think that really fair.

Do I think there is a possibility that MORE of the bad apples come to Canada to exploit the resources, than good apples that follow the rules??? Yes, because many of them think Canada is just a bunch of hicks that are too polite to enforce the rules.

News for the Americans that think we are push overs... exploit our resources, or play us in hockey... it could get dangerous for ya!

I welcome law abiding Americans to fish here! To the goofs that come to rape and pillage... stay home, and I hope your local authorities bust you bad. They put everyone in jail down there! Lol

Not true at all. I fished for a # of years with a guy from NJ at cottages on a lake in E Ont. He was as conservation minded as anyone. He said hi bro asked him to bring back some walleye---told him if he wanted walleye he'd have to come himself!
