So I purchased a new pflueger president XT from Tromblys last weekend. Never owned a pflueger before but the legions of fans convinced me quite easily. Picked up the 35 model and plan to baptize it on the 4th Saturday of April at about 12:01 am. Also got a new St Croix premier rod to strap it to, I am very excited for the open water season. I'm interested in something quality that would last for quite a while so the president seemed to be a no brainer. I'd be willing to bet this reel would out last some other $30 reels three times over! So I haven't had a chance to use it yet but damn, it's a good looking reel.

Anyone else out here use an XT or the president?

Got mine spooled ready for 12:01 Apr 28! During the spooling process I can say I have never felt a smoother spinning reel that's for sure!

It's a fine reel for sure i own 3 in that model, here's a link to it on amazon.ca for $72.99 I picked 1 up around november on amazon for just over $60.

Still worth every bit of $100 or $125 for people that aren't me

I've been watching Amazon as well but couldn't find the 35 for under 100. Good deals right now on the 30 though.

President is the best I find they last about 3 seasons and I'm rough on them. Can't beat it for 75 to 100 bucks

I decided it was time to treat myself but I do have to give props to my old mitchell avocet g4000... It has been a workhorse for the last 12 years and been beat on spending more than one winter buried in the snow in the back of my truck and the first time it has ever been apart and cleaned and oiled was yesterday. But I am still super excited to run the pflueger and designate the mitchell to the 10ft catfish rod

On a somewhat related note I did buy a president xt baitcaster, for anyone curious about them I believe they came out last summer. Unlike the spinning reel which has been better than some of my spinning reels of considerable more value, the baitcaster is clearly a $100 reel so don't expect a miracle haha.

I run the 2000 size President and Supreme reels for ice fishing and absolutely love them. My #1 walleye reel is a 2500 Supreme and I've been using that for 10 years and have hundreds of hours on that reel and its still my go to

all the phluegars ive owned prior were amazing!!!!!love the preident series!!!!!BUT

the president 3500 in red with wood handle that i got:

reels in rough/humm or vibration on the line u can hear is the best way i can describe it

like the baits under pressure even if it isnt

feels bulky,

performs well otherwise....caught some fish

maybe just mines fu@&ed, and urs works fine....... let us know when u try it,,,,,

69$ is likely a more reasonable price point, i paid over 100 too if i recall

2 spinning reels i highly recommend right now daiwa balistic, and shimano nacsi.......Very good reels.....

smooth
light
great drag settings
look next Gen

throw those on a Fenwick , and or a St croix now we re talking a setup!!!!!!

Seasons coming soon ....be safe and tight lines!!!!!

I sure hope you are right that it's just yours and not an issue throughout the 35 series
