I donít really but I know a bunch of people that do and they all say shrimp. Buy a shrimp ring. You can eat and use it as bait!

I havenít targeted them for years but when i did we always used raw liver...cow, chicken etc...worms, Iíve got them on 5 or so dead minnows on a hook. You can put a piece of sausage on a hook and youíll get into catfish!

I've caught a bunch just using a jig head and gulp minnow.

I had a friend that would dump a can of cocktail weenies into a garbage pail and dunk it into Frenchmans Bay and a minute later bring it up full of catfish. I personally would never partake in such an activity but I used to have some questionable friends

Nothing fancy needed. Worms and a hook work like a charm

I use mostly cut bait. We go out in the spring catch a couple of white suckers cut them up and throw them in the freezer and when we run out of that it is part way through the summer and the chub minnows are a lot bigger and switch to them. Catch them fresh and just cut the head off for the blood trail. I have also had good luck with the gulp leaches

i dont like using worms because they catch more panfish then catfish even with a bigger hook!

if you are catching more panfish than catfish you are probably to far off bottom.
slip float close to bottom and a big nightcrawler is prime. Now if you were down on the Grand than a fresh fillet of scaled sucker meat, large egg sinker on bottom can't be beat

It is funny we canít waste edible parts of fish we catch.... but we are willing to waste tasty shrimp! Errrr. Iíll trade you all a bucket of catfish for the ring of shrimp!

I simply use a 1/4 oz jig head with a full night crawler.

the best, like most have said just a big old dew worm (at least half if not the hole thing) throw it on any hook and sink it to the bottom. Berkley used to make a catfish bait like their trout dough, it was black and stinky but worked pretty good.
