What is your purpose for targetting a species, for sport or consumption? Crappie fishing is a ton of fun when you get on them. I prefer to target them over walleye and bass for eating.

Then you cant go wrong with putting them on your list. When you get on school of them its non stop action. And i think they taste better than perch and walleye.👍

No reason why you shouldn't add a new species to your list! Just have to watch your limits. I have added catfishing to my repertoire this year... Probably why we have this late winter storm since I have made purchases and committed to something that is dependent on the water warming up a bit. I think perch are an easier target than crappie since they are everywhere all the time maybe try a 2 species approach... Crappie at the peak and perch when they slow down?

Oh catfish. Yes I fish mostly the kawartha lakes. So we dont get alot of catdish but the odd mudcat and they taste fantastic.
