Hi Folks:

We decided to take a drive up to the lake to check on the lake/ice conditions following the recent storm.

We basically checked out our usual area (Island Grove) from the end of Woodbine Ave. to the boat ramps.

We were surprised to see there was SOME open water in the channel between the mainland and Snake Island, however, there were also large areas of the lake still covered in ice off the SW tip of Snake Island, as well as, the eastern point of Snake Island towards Beaverton. There were some small patches of open water in the large ice sheets looking E by NE from the end of Woodbine Ave.

Please note - there were patches of drifting ice in the channel between the mainland and Snake Island.

Please note - there is also a solid mass of ice along the shoreline on the SE edge of Snake Island which I suspect will prevent access to Snake Island for a time being.

I can't comment on the conditions on the rest of the lake but I suspect there is still ice remaining on the rest of the lake.

I hate to say it - but - I doubt anyone will be heading out on the lake in a boat for at least a few more days and perhaps a week or more.

That's all for now, Nancy
