Set off for a 1.5km walk this morning at around 7:45 and had lines in the water by 8:20. Fishing started off really slow for me, marked about 10 fish from 8:30 till noon and couldnít entice any to bite.

My buddy managed to ice a nice whitey around 10am and then we moved around a bit and still no fish so we found a nice shelf where we thought they would be and set up shop. I landed an average size whitey about 10 minutes in and then it was on fire after that.... I landed 3 whitefish in the span of 15 minutes and we were marking them non stop, sometimes 2 or 3 on the screen at once.

The best fishing was between 1-3 where I managed to land 9 whitefish and lost probably 5, I found the whitefish to be chasing the bait up high which Iím not use to as almost every whitefish I catch comes on bottom but today they were hitting 5-10 feet off bottom.

The last fish of the day i managed to snap my rod in half (first for me) on the hook set and had to hand line it in but still managed to land it.

All fish were naturals today and most were the average 4-5 pounds except for 2 that were just over 6lbs

It was a great season, I learned a lot, met some new people and caught some nice fish!

Good luck and be safe for whatís left of the season

Awesome Daniel !! Glad you were able to pound them after that slow day with me where you "only" limited out .

Had the whitefish for dinner , very tasty. They are never as easy to clean as the videos on youtube. That brown fat area is a pain , but hey , wifey was happy.

Hope to fish with you next year !!

Hey thanks Dale wish we could have got into some more fish but what can ya do!

It definely takes a couple times to get the hang of cleaning them, Iím still not the greatest at it and Iíve done a few but Iím getting better.

We will get out next year for sure!

Yeah the brown fat can be a pain to remove. If bleed out the fish I find they taste better. Whitefish also has a pin bone to remove.. practice makes perfect

Another thing to add...Majority of the whitefish I caught this winter were naturals, which means they must be reproducing well! Also when I would catch 2 or 3 stocked ones in the same day they would all have the same fin clips

Wish I had one more day at it before season ends.

Meegs still just got them to chase it up a couple feet and then just light taps and they would hit it hard every time almost
