Better be sure to secure your hut! Looking like a pretty hairy day for wind.
Figured Id mention it just in case some folks are not aware of the craziness.
Curious what the pressure cracks will be singing!

Beaufort Scale:
Near gale 51 - 62 km/h 28-33 knots Whole trees in motion; inconvenience felt when walking against wind.

I will add to the Beaufort Scale... May turn your hut in to a projectile. Toupee users best stay inside.

Good luck to those venturing out. I will be testing the strength of my decrepit Clam Vista... so if you see one flying by, Im off to Oz!

Ah nothing the old pop up can't handle, extra anchors are key! You might be able to just un-anchor and fly home!! Thanks for the warning.

We are also getting hammered with snow at the north end of the lake .

For those venturing out there be carefull with the snow covering pressure cracks , broken up shorelines etc.

I got the next 2 days off but I am sitting this one. Pop up on its last legs. Good luck out there and don't loose your hut!

if you head up wind on your way out to your fishing spot(s), on the way home you can just open it up and let it the wind sail you back home (fast)! Good luck.

Gotta agree a terrible wind day. Not fun. Better on the couch today with jack daniels.

I find the weathernetwork over estimating often, Yesterday they were promising strong winds in the afternoon but it was pretty calm till 2:30 pm. It would be cool to post observed wind speed vs the ones they predicted in the pic above and compare;)

I was going to head out today but the wind kept me home. Previous posts mentioned that anchors werent holding in the ice as well as before. I need an excuse for a new hut but having my hut torn away like getting your shorts pulled down in gym class does not sound fun. Good luck.

Since I need yet another pop-up hut, I think I shall consider head out to have some walk along Simcoe shorelines (and collect some huts or "kites" as freebies:-)? (But then I have to make sure I myself will not be blown into the main lake:-)

I am out at BBP and its definitely a screamer today.

I have ropes with backup bungees and have literally built snow walls around the base of my hut. My smitty sled is weighting down the windy side for extra stability.

Dont think this hut will budge, but its rocking like your Dad's station wagon!
