My friend and I hit balsam yesterday for a few hours and managed some walleye and smallies, a quick pic and all went back to grow bigger. The weather was awesome, the weeds arenít fully to the top yet on my favourite spots yet, itís nice to get the rod bent tho.

I was on Balsam as well on Saturday. I was surprised by how not busy it was. Boat traffic was way down. The weather was great, the weeds are about half of where they should be, and caught some small perch and one eye just at the high end of slot size about 19"). I also had a muskie follow but I wasn't paying attention (would have been a PB). Still had fun. I will be back at it next weekend.

Nice fish.

Balsam has a different slot for walleye than the rest of Kawartha. Has to be over 21Ē I think.

Good day and nice fish sounds like you had plenty of action You are right Terry the slot for Walleye is different then the rest of the Kawartha's . We stay at Shore Lea Resort when we stay on Balsam and several times the guest were keeping under the slot Walleye until we let them see the rules .

Sorry Paul you are wrong at the bottom of the page for area 17 it says no Walleyes between 14.6" and 21.7 they have to be over 21.7 on Balsam

Nice catch, i was at balsam yesterday as well, managed 3 pike, lost one boatside which was of size, wasnt expecting the hit. Spent most of the day casting for musky, with nothing to show for, no follows either. Frustrating lake for me, yet i keep on coming back lol. Didnt find much green either in the spots i tried. Ill be back in the fall to try for them again.
