With the boat loaded and gear organized Friday night an early morning alarm got us on the road early for our two hour drive to the lake that we chose for the opener. We didn’t get into any big fish but I did get a couple of nice smaller fish to make for a successful opener. Ended the day with 2 fish boated and 3 other follows. The first fish came on a double 9 bucktail, second was on a large spinnerbait. Had follows on a dark 9 inch jerk bait as well with one fish taking a swipe but missing the bait. I was surprised to see that weed growth was about where it has been in other years and the fish where we thought that they would be.
