Hi Folks:

We headed out on the lake out of the Island Grove area around 1:00 this afternoon and discovered there was 1-2 inches of standing water at the bottom on the boat ramp. There was no slush or snow drifts, however, the ice was glassy smooth and slippery. The ice was still much the same as last weekend and easy to cross by a quad, probably no problem on a ski doo but I suspect it would have been difficult traveling for walkers without cleats. The wind on the other hand was brutal.

We returned a few hours later and the temperature had dropped 6 C and I suspect the wet conditions along the shoreline will freeze over quickly. It was still windy and it had started to snow.

So basically - the ice in the Island Grove area remains safe to cross, however, given the brutal wind and low temperatures forecast for the upcoming weekend - I suspect only the brave or fool hardy will be heading out on the ice this weekend.

That's all for now, Nancy

Thank you Nancy for the update. Greatly appreciated as usual. My brother and I will brave the weather tomorrow when we head out. I just hope the pop up will hold out and If not, we can always go sailing along the ice holding it. Cheers

Hi Gord:

Haven't seen many posts from you this season. I thought you may have headed to Florida or some other warm spot.

That's all for now, Nancy
