Update to my adventures out here. This is my 3rd trip since my first where I got 56, the 2 after the water was cloudy from run off, as we had a warm spell, and I caught nothing. 4 1 day and 0 the other. This time was slightly different. It wasnít fast like the first time, but I managed 19 over 3 hours, while others went home empty handed. Was using little pink plastics from gulp, and lost a lot st the hole, as smelts arenít like perch, they actually clamp down and hold on, so a lot of times they didnít have the hook in the mouth they just where chilling on the plastic and is lift em out. Gunna try some red wool next time as that should really tangle there teeth. Got some awesome photos right before sunset too, the island you can see is the only land between us and PEI. Hopefully will be back his weekend to give her another try. Photos below.

Nice Report! I have a buddy taking me out for a shot at some smelt through the ice this weekend. First time for me, looking forward to trying something new and checking another species off the list.

Nice, they love red, red jigs, wool, or anything else, or pink, that's another colour they like. Shrimp works well too with a number 6-10 hook.

Thanks for the update. I'll bet the yarn they used to sell for yarn flies would be the deal. Any incidental catches common in the area? You'd think there would be some predators in their with all the smelt.

See the odd flounder but nothing more where I fish from what Iíve heard and seen.
