After a few disappointing outings my folks have been on the move and seem to have located a pretty sweet spot.

Started fishing at 11am and left at 4:30. I joined them around 2:30 after seeing some facebook pictures they had posted.

The end result was 42 perch and 3 keeper walleye (21, 20, 18in). Countless more released. In fact I lost a keeper in the hole in the first 10 seconds of fishing .

The perch were ravenous as were the walleye. A full pound of minnows was insufficient and we found ourselves chipping dead ones out of the ice. Even dead/mangled bait was being swept away. I even caught a fish on a dead stickleback.

Most productive were plain perch rigs and splitshot single hook setups. We actually had some minnows on slo-death hooks (ran out of normal hooks) and they performed fantastic - probably due to how thin the hook is. Definitely improved hooking percentage. I re-jigged some per rigs to use strictly fluoro and didn't notice any improvement. Threaded minnows were dynamite but I didn't have time to rig em up and eventually ditched that approach. Zero fish on artificial bait, though we had little time to sit and jig...

And now the fish porn.
