Happy New Year to all.

Fished a small brookie back lake yesterday. Had to cross two larger size lakes to get into it. Ice was 6-8 inches on larger lakes. half black, half white. Lakes were very, very slushy. Not too much of a problem with snowmobile, but an ATV would have a hard time I think.

The small lake we were on had very inconsistent ice. 10" in spots and less than 4" in others. with about 10" of slush.

We did have some good luck though. the lake had been stocked with brookies every 2 years for the last 8 or so. We caught a couple from each stocking year. witch was kinda cool to see how they progress in size over the years. Largest being about 14-16"

It was great to get out and wet a line

Be safe all

We were in the area as well today snow was not deep, there were slush holes, only 4" of slush though. Otherwise walking was great.
