So after my vacation spend on simcoe in January, the new business is up and running and it's got me working 6 to 7 days a week which is fine but I really like to fish. On Saturday got to the lake at 330 and spend just under 2 hours but went home smelling of skunk. Sunday rolled around and off I went with the gf to a buddys hut for some whitefish. Bike really has to work hard on the lake but we crawled our way there. Set up and nothing marking for a while. Drat. Then the gf gets a text and was looking at it when I notice her rod slowly start bending over and before I could say anything she was hooked up. And it was big! She is yelling I can't hold on! I am screaming I got to get the other line out, let the drag do it's work! Get the other line out and she hands me the rod. Tried to budge it but to no avail. It then proceeded to almost spool me but I got it turned around and after about 6 minutes was back at square one where it was originally hooked. Ran another 4 or 5 times and after another 5 minutes or so the vibrato popped out!!! Really wanted to see what it was but my guess is a big laker. Things died down after thst and I figured I'd tie a rig with something I haven't tried yet. Reel up about 15ft and leave the rod. As I am tying the gf says something is coming up to see you. I slowly just start lifting up and wham! Fish on! Was a good size whitey that absolutely inhaled the vibrato. Been a while since I needed pliers to get the 21g out of their gullet. Checked by mnr shortly after and he said we got lucky, he hasn't seen any fish caught yet. Ride back to shore was awful and atv overheated about 50 yards from shore but all in all a great day!
