I was told a long time ago that if you rent from an operator that had a Bed, kitchen, bathroom that it was legal to have a beer on the ice as long as your by your hut.... Sounds like someone got a ticket for doing just that on the nipp board..
Anyone with the correct knowledge of the law want to chime in...

As I mentioned on the Nip board. It was explained to us by the operator we stay with that to go out front to the bbq with a beer in hand you are probably ok but any further you are taking a chance. Running over to check a line with a beer in hand you could expect to get a ticket is what we were told. This from an operator not an officer but nothing here that would make or break my weekend so why risk it any further.

I was on Lake Erie last week, had a CO visit.

One of his first comments were, ďIll pretend I donít see those emptiesĒ

We only had 4 empties total

And then proceeded to say how it was similar to drinking in public or off residence

We were with an outfitter and not driving and were responsible by all means

He was was decent but yeah not sure about an overnight hut

If you have the quad, and keys on you, Iím sure it wouldnít be a pleasant experience

Something to be mindful of for sure

It should be one of those things... don't get caught peeing in public... don't get caught drinking in public.

It's pretty simple explanation in the LLA.

Answer is basically NO

Does not matter what operator says

As for day huts.....no unless you intend to spend the night.....

That is it

now have at her..... rationalize anyway you want, doesn't change it

I had the OPP come up and question me while fishing, i had an empty beside me about 50 yards from the hut. He asked me what the can was doing outside of the hut, i replied that i have respect for the environment and i use the can as a butt can. No further questions were asked.

Amen, that's the correct answer. Those that have been afforded a blind eye or stuffy nose to whatever product of nature you consume, consider it a free pass and not the correct answer.

Years ago when they had the power boat races off the Leslie Street spit in Toronto some plain clothed officers came along and tagged us $135 for drinking out of residence. One looked me right in the eye and said and I quote "have you ever heard of plastic glasses" unquote 😒

My question is... if I had one beer. Maybe two... over the course of my 6 hour fishing day with lunch.

At no point am I even close to blowing anything more than .02

If Iím not operating the quad with an open beer. I realize it looks worse than if I had walked out. But seriously... other than the drinking out of residence ticket are there other laws I am violating?
If your dickered and itís obvious and you blow .05 or better then your in dui territory. But for us enjoy one or two responsibly people what else is wrong.

I do believe you are more likely to have this dismissed by a co like others have said without issues so long as you have walked and have all of your other documentation in order.

ridiculous nanny state laws where an adult can't be trusted to have a beer in a ice hut..

naturally it doesn't stop drunk driving idiots - those people just don't care

it only stops people who are responsible...
