lots of springs, don't take a machine out. without a machine though, it's a loooong walk back to fishable water. MNR stocks it at the road, directly beside a culvert, fish go in then straight downstream.

I've fished it on the ice before, and yes, ice conditions vary greatly. springs and current. and no, you would be hard pressed to find the brookies in winter. It's a long walk back too, but if you want peaceful. strap on the snowshoes and go, just don't expect too many hook ups. there are better options around for ice fishing.

It's not easy finding good spots and unfortunately most people wont share if they have a honey hole. Lake Simcoe is good but sometimes you want to try something different. Moving around in the spring and summer is a lot easier to do. Winter time makes it challenging. I'd love to find a lake that had some specs or rainbows.

Walleye are always high on the list but anything really. I have fished chesley and silver lake a bit but more so in the summer. I had never fished bells so was interested in the brookies but sounds like I shouldn't hold my breathe and a long sketchy walk doesn't sound great either. Put the skis on perhaps...

Allan Park near Durham is open year round for rainbow trout. It used to get stocked. Not sure if it still does and I wouldn't have a clue about ice conditions either. Small little lake but back when I did high school mountain biking there, people were fishing it.
Arran Lake is another one to try out. Max 15-20 ft deep. Has pike, perch and bass but the ice is normally like 8-10 inches of white ice but this year may be different.
Robson lake is another one but with the temps the way they are, the ice there is dicey most years because of how deep it is and the current. People have been known to catch trout, pike, perch and bass there as well as sunfish.
I've fish Arran and Robson both in winter and summer. Fun lakes to try out.
