I was out on the bay today testing my homemade drill attachment for my ice auger. 200 yards from shore and 50 yards out from the government dock which is about 8-10 feet of water. I didn't want to venture out any further.

- areas with no snow: 5" of ice.
- areas with snow: 2" of slush then about 2-3" of ice.

There were 2 guys up from the Barrie area perch fishing, they had no perch but caught 1 crisco.

My auger attachment worked great, Dewalt 20v, less then 10 secs for a 6" hole in 5" is ice.

Last night was -27 with out the windchill so a few more days and we should be good to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong but reading exceptions to FMZ11, isn't Lake Nippissing closed to everything right now?

True, Nipissing is closed until Jan1 to everyone except those who have a status card or those who are ignorant of the law. I think those people may have gotten away with an early start.

I was thinking the same thing as I read it.

Nipissing is definitely closed to all species until Jan 1 2018.

Cranman, That guy had permanent huts. I believe they had cards (didn't ask).

"They come pre greased for the frying pan laugh.gif" -- I should know how to spell by now...cisco...all ways good for a laugh.
