A pound of minnows?

I thought we are only allowed to have 120 minnows in our possession???

Depending on the average size of the minnows you will have anywhere between 7 and 10 dozen per lb. So you can easily go over the 120 minnow mark.

You can also buy pinheads in which case you'll get something like 600 minnows.

I bought 3 dozen and was well over the maximum. Put me in jail I guess

That is one law that really needs to be revamped. When an honest fisherman is accused by law as being a rebel and an outlaw, he may decide to go a step further and say well I might as well fish over my limit seeing that I am the evil person that I am.

I was fishing Perchville last year with my sled and Fishing was Zero when two Mnr pull up.They ask how many holes? like I had a secret hole somewhere. After checking License and my pack they ask again how many holes did I have. The huge majority are following the many rules imposed but I am usually made to feel uncomfortable like a suspected criminal.
Perhaps I give off nervous vibes but I feel Some Mnr act like were the enemy when we all know the real problems that exist.

Does anybody know why there would be a 120 minnow limit? I'm sure there must be a reason but I think that they can alter the language/numbers so as to not trap innocent fishermen in their law enforcement net.

I believe it's because there's a rule against transporting live bait. You need a permit for this.

But under a certain, smaller amount it's personal possession.

It could have to do with us regular folk not having commercial licenses... when I was in high school we could buy chubs/dace just about anywhere.
Or perhaps just a way of limiting use of the resource?
