Keep in mind that MANY of the lower hp engines for multiple brands are made by tohatsu and rebranded... forget where I came across this information but its there. (Tohatsu makes a great motor).
Also. I am not sure how mechanically inclined you are or what is wrong with your sportwin but those old OMC outboards are easy to work on. Many parts still available from BRP outboard dealers. If you dont already have one grab a service manual from ebay if youre comfortable doing work yourself.
It might be worth it for you to look for a used older model OMC with good compression, depending on your budget/comfort with doing your own work.
Otherwise I would reecommend a Yammie. But I love those old made in Peterborough OMC outboards!

I bought a brand new Suzuki 2.5 4 stroke two years ago for backcountry fishing . Purrs like a kitten and will even push the 17 ft lund around if called upon . Very light and just uses sniffs of gas . I think all in it cost me $1200 with 6 year warranty .

I'm looking to pick up a Yamaha 4 stroke long shaft 4 hp or so as a kicker for the Smoker Craft. I hate putting out the bags to slow her down running on the main motor. (Yamie 50 Pro) . Hitting the show in Hamilton tomorrow to see what is being offered this year. My uncle babied her for 40 years so it is time for me to show her a little loving too. Oh ya..... and don' tell the wife. I'm going to tell her that it is an old motor that was in the back of the barn for years!!!
