Two Thornhill residents have been fined a total of $6,000 for catching and keeping undersized Lake Nipissing walleye.

Doesn't seem really enough, as they broke 2 rules, undersize and twice their limit.

Lots of people getting fined on Nipissing for slot and quantity. These people clearly knew they were breaking the rules though.

Limit on Nip is 2 each, not 6.

minnkita thanks for posting

Somehow we need to make this more public, may stop someone else from breaking the laws.

Viktor Soloviov and Anna Shimanovich pleaded guilty to possessing 24 undersized walleye. They were each fined $3,000 and are prohibited from fishing for two years...

I’m glad they got caught, should be higher fines as far as I’m concerned. But I’m not a big fan of pointing out “last names”.
Seems to me that assholes from every part of the world will poach, including people who’s family has been in this country for many generations.

Douche baggery doesn’t discriminate itself by where someone comes from.

I agree but in the outdoors book it reads 6 but if you read exceptions it reads 2 .
not many people tell you to read exceptions especially if your a non resident.

Sterling you are correct and I should have realized this as I have read the rules, for there, but I never fish up there and was thinking of down here where it is 6. So it is even worse. Wonder how many times they have gotten away with this.

Why do people do it? The law and the rules are in place to help protect our natural resources so that we can continue to fish in the future. For people who flagrantly break the rules, as these two did, it is clear that they have no regard for the future of sport fishing. I think it would therefore be appropriate to ban them altogether from the future of sport fishing. Not just two years, but for all the days of their lives. And let them live with that!
