Good Afternoon,

Was just able to book a couple a weeks at the end of December off and while xmas stuff will be there, I am hoping to sneak away for a few nights, couple of days for some ice fishing. Obviously I will need to go north enough where this will be a possibility, but I am a newb on this. Does anyone here have any recommendations on where I can go and find a stay and play (lodging + fishing) package? I presume I am going to have to go as far north, if not farther as North Bay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

SR

#1, check your regulations and see which lakes are open at that time of year.

Not much open beyond North bay to Cochrane in mid to the end of December. Lodges that are open will not have there huts out yet or do not have huts. I start in Cochrane ice fishing the first week of December and work my way down to Temagami by the fourth week of December. In Temagami Wilson lake lodge is open year round. They have a few year round trout lakes close by that I do well on. Also have many back lakes with all species available. They have no huts. In Temagami is Temagami shores motel. Lots of backlakes nearby. North of Kirkland lake is larder lake. Cheminis lodge is located there. They have huts but will not have them out in December. The lake is large and deep and may not be fully frozen mid December but there are lots of good back lakes to fish. If you go to Cochrane, Halfway lodge is east on low bush river off lake Abitibi. Great fishing and the lodge cabins are new and have furnaces and sat tv. They have no huts. If you want more info on ice fishing from North bay to Cochrane just pm me
