Started dark and early---just enough light to see when we launched my friend Jim's 14 footer. Calm 'seas', just 1 more boat so far. Marked quite a few as we trolled 60-80 ft of water. Started with smallish body baits. I switched to Fire Tiger after about an hr and hit the first fish shortly thereafter. Jim switched to a similar color and hit several more. By the 'end of the day'---prob around 10 AM we had landed 7 and missed 2. It gradually became quite busy and Cap'n Jim got tired of dodging boats so we packed it in.

Nice tasting too!!

My trusty guide, Jim, said we had to get there at the crack of dawn if we hoped to catch the bite. We kind of blew a hole in that theory. The bite got better later on! Oh well, what's a fisherman without a theory?? Otherwise he was the perfect guide!!

There were lots of boats out by the time we left. Others were catching too but some seemed to be nudging closer to us!

(I thought salmon fishermen used special types of lure out on the lakes but we were just using 'Rapala type' baits that I have used for pike, bass etc.)

Very nice, were you guys running those behind dipsys or were you just flat lining them? I was out last weekend and tried 40-60' with dipsys but I only caught in 18' with body baits.

Looks like a spectacular day, and nice fish fore sure. FYI I think you need a new camera, the one you have doesn't catch the background very well lol jk.

Hi Eric,

Good to see you onboard here!

We were using downriggers---not my favorite way of fishing, nor Jim's. How deep could you get with the dipseys? Were you in a kayak?

It was so calm on Mon that you could have jigged with spoons or whatever.

Well done Harold.

Nice looking fish.

No chance for me to get the boat ready and out there before I head off on vacation.
