If you look at the first pic it looks as though the jaw is past the eye, the second pic is a different fish, an Atlantic i caught in Lake Ontario

Sometimes we need better pictures. Send it to Ducky and he can do the autopsy.

I'm in Halifax right now. I was in a grocery store today where they had whole Atlantic Salmon for sale.

Your fish sure looks like an Atlantic.

It looks like an Atlantic to me as well, but my friend, who works alongside a biologist for an mnr sub contracting firm is irate that everyone keeps saying definitely that its an atlantic, since the mouth cleary extends past the eye, which is the trait of a brown, not atlantic, we are both wondering if somehow its a cross between a brown and atlantic since they are from the same family, i personally think its a malformation from the hatchery

I think everyone is definitively saying that it's an Atlantic because of the fact that it is an Atlantic

Atlantics are more closely related to trout than salmon, from the family salmonidae, also, they are thinking of re-classification of stealhead to salmonidae because the true trout are char, brook, lake
