Anybody fish on Rice Lake? Is it worth going out that way or should I stay in front of Bewdley? Any reports on ice conditions?

BJ tackle in bewdley is always stocked with minnows and whatever else you need, i went there 3 weeks ago and the bite was pretty good

For Harwood try Harris Boat works. If they're open they should be able to tell you about the ice. Otherwise BJ baits in Bewdley should know.

Just got back from Bewdley, really bad. Nothing over 4 inches. There must be some bigger perch producing all the dinky ones, but where?

I had the same issue myself in bewdley , there was no shortage of perch but when every single one is 3-4 inches it makes for a tough day lol but still better then a day at work !

Friends invited me back to Rice and I reluctantly went but the day turned out OK. We caught walleye of all things, all released of course the largest was 5 lb+ in 2 different locations. Ended up catching some nice crappie and a few perch.

Looks like location is the key!

Went back to the same area and caught about 10 smaller crappie and some other small pan fish. Not what I was hoping for exactly, the other day the largest crappie was 11". There seemed to be lots of fish but they were biting very lightly. I definitely need a sled.

I find going to a Swedish pimple or a slab grabber (simcoe spoon with a colored bead) or a larger tube keeps the dinks away! Also in the next few weeks the larger ones will be more active. Good luck!

Thanks. I tried wax worms and they seemed to work OK one day then they turned off them and were biting pin heads only on small jigs. The slab grabber is my go to bait as well but not a sniff on that. I think I'm in a good area finally and I'm going to fish the contours more thoroughly to see if I can locate larger groups of fish.

Finally had a good day. Pretty hot bite for 2 hours on Rice Lake. 4:30 - 6:30 pm. in about 11 FOW using the Lindy flutter spoon tipped with a salted minnow head or wax worm. Small pan fish and kept a few crappie and a perch for supper. Freezing rain was a downer but the fishing was fun.

I know its been warmer weather this week and rain. I not from the area but renting a cottage on the east side of the lake this weekend (Feb 24th weekend)

Wondering on the ice conditions and good fishing spots...ice conditions pending of course.

TIA
