After all the SUPER cold day, finally make it out with my friend yesterday, arrived at 4pm, find my usual spots, set up, start fishing at 4:45pm, fish comes, on and off since start until 8pm, we only keep 10 altogether, 10-12inches. Not bad for the 1st outing, only hard thing is going out and getting back, 6-8” of snow, some parts even have wet snow under, very hard to walk, lucky I didn’t bring the ATV, for sure the ATV will get stuck in this kind of snow! So, if you are planning to go, prepare yourself to walk in this kind of situation. Coming few days has rain and snow and warm up a little bit, so it should be even worst. Good luck.

Thanks for the report. Was that a mixed bag of perch/crappie or just one species ? Either way , a nice little feed.

I think we start almost sunset, so, only Crappie yesterday. Usually have to play with perch and bluegills before Mr. Crappie.

Best day ever ice fishing on Scugog. I go to the boat launch in Port Perry, and walk out past the first marker. Started around 10 am, must have been above perch bed, cause I was pulling them fast and furious for almost three hours. Kept 18, threw back probably 40, including four bass. Two jumbos, and only 2 or 3 dinks. All the others were over 6 inches, with the biggest maybe 14 inches. Lots of fun. Used pinheads from the causeway bait shop.

After last weekend's phenomenal fishing, I was hoping for something similar. Good thing I'm used to disappointment. Still caught about a dozen, but mostly dinks. Will try again tomorrow. The Causeway Bait shop told me that everyone is catching lots right now on Scugog, plenty of crappie and perch. He also said that the walleye seem to be coming back after last year. People are catching small walleye and throwing them back, but they are plentiful. Maybe in a couple of years they can allow us to keep a couple. It's like the Ministry knows what they are doing.

Hey - I guess you are just up the road from me. Still huts out in front of you, and a couple of snowmobiles went bombing by about an hour ago (expect to read details of their night in the news tomorrow). Getting very cold again this week, so I think the ice will be fine when you are here.

I went fishing at the boat launch in Port Perry and they were landing ultra light planes on it last weekend, I was on 12" of ice, and the planes were small. so my guess is the ice would be at least 10" overall on Scugog. Usually when I see them driving on the ice, its a good indication that I can walk out on the ice. Going tomorrow, so I hope the bite is back.

Probably still lots of ice in spite of the warm weather. There was about 11 inches Tuesday. With the cold snap coming in should be all kinds of good lots of people out today anybody know an accurate measurement from the day?
