Holy Man! ....Are we really doing this AGAIN this year?

"closed Jan 1st - Friday before family day"

if I say: "I'm working next week Monday - Friday", I bet it would be quite clear to everyone that my next day off is the Saturday. Nobody would expect me to be off Friday....so how are we so confused on this regulation?

Anyone want to bet we have mass confusion again in February 2019?

I would assume it opens at 12:01 am friday the 16th if it says friday before family day not saturday ?????

You are giving the wrong information unfortunately:-)

Quote from Ontario MNR 2018 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary on Lake Joseph exceptions (for Zone 15, Page 73):

Lake Joseph and Little Lake Joseph - Humphrey and Medora Township:

Fish sanctuary – no fishing from Jan. 1 - Fri. before Family Day

unquote

(So it opens at 12:01 am Saturday the 17th! NOT Friday the 16th!!!)

Actually it opens at 12:00:01 am......lol.

There should be no confusion as the wording is no different then walleye opener, bass opener or any other opener. You cannot fish that Friday as it is clearly stated closed.

Can someone comment on the Ice Conditions please. I'm assuming it'll be slushy but is the ice safe for Saturday? Thanks

Prob not slushy. the ice is too thick for the snow to sink it very much.

No slush right now
Wait till everybody starts drilling hole
Then the slush will come up depending on the amount of snow on the ice.

To the person that is impatiently waiting for a conditions report.
Please keep in mind that there is no fishing on the lake right now so there is no reason to be out there.
There is nobody out there checking the conditions for you.

Snowmobilers will not be reading this thread.
All your condition reports will start flowing after Saturday morning.
If you really have to know, take a drive and go for a walk. Then you can share your findings with the rest of us.

I'll be there early Saturday. Not saying where I launch but I'm gonna try to plow a road out with my quad to help the walkers. Good luck and tight lines

with the two days of mild temps then freeze again up here that might be easier said then done. Hopefully it packs down a bit though. Lots of snow on the lakes right now. I won’t be on joe this weekend but good luck to everyone out there!

an honest question regarding typical gov't ambiguous language, what's your problem? maybe he wasn't here last year, like me, to hear your infinite knowledge
