Has anyone fished in Varedaro as I am heading there tomorrow for 7 days and would like to wet a line while down there. Any input would be appreciated.

From the accounts of others (including a brother that goes every year -- for 20+ years), and my trip last year, passing on a charter trip is probably wise. The fishery around the island is poor; most charters will troll for a bit (largely unsuccessful), dive for lobster, and have customers jig for small rock fish while a mate prepares your lobster. And not a cheap fee. It's probably more entertaining sitting on the beach and sharing a beer with a local as they use a throw-line to fish the shallows for small "sardine-sized" fish that school by the beach front.

Thanks.....that's kind of what I have been hearing and reading about fishing there, but was hoping there was some good news.....will try to meet a local as you say and see where it goes from there.

I was there about 6 years ago and it was really good. We had several Marlin on but only landed one. My son caught a really nice big fish about 20 lbs called a wahoo or something like that. The guide was showing it off to all his buddies at the pier so I know it was a good one.

Locals all the way. In land pond/lake are filled with fish. Deep sea is a big hit and miss.
