Looking to buy a new fish finder. I will be using it in soft and hard water season. What you be a great buy. I am looking and the lowrance and hummingbird units. What everyone’s take on the units. Like the low range because it comes with a built in flasher great for ice fishing. Any information would be great.

Lowrance elite is the best deal for the money in the lowrance line up. Garmin echomap chirp models are pretty good units for the money as well. I'm not familiar with bird stuff so I can't comment.

I am partial to Humminbird products, and absolutely loved my Helix 9 on the ice last season, however the more portable 7 option might be a better bet.

I love the idea of being able to use it in the summer and winter as well.

Next ice season, I may get a Helix 7, but would be happy using the 9 without complaints.
