Was out on Fish Bay today to check ice. Figured there would be around 5" with the cold the last couple days.
No!!
Under only a couple inches of snow there was water/slush.
Two pokes with a sharp chisel revealed about 2 1/2" of white ice under that.
Not going any further for a day or two.
Surprising with a couple days of good cold that's all there was.

I ventured out this morning about 30 ft from the South Shore and took some measurements. There was approx 3 inches of snow with about 3 inches of slush beneath it then only about 2-3 inches of ice. I expected much more ice since itís been around -20 deg celcius almost the entire week. Was about midway between deep water point and Callander bay.
