Hey Guys,

So me and 6 buddies decided to book our annual fishing trip this year with Snowfari Adventures in their ice bungalow's. Really did not have much history on them or review's but the price was right and looked like what we got was good for the $$ as well as the fishing was reported to be pretty good as well.

We arrived on Friday around 12:30, drove out to thier office on the ice. They are about 1.2 km off shore around a few small Island's in 26ft of water.
We were set up with a ton of minnow's (1/2 of the courtesy scoop) and fishing by 1pm.

We had a few small Walleye's pretty quick, but after that the fishing was slow for most of Friday. We were sitting on 22 inches of good looking ice. Drove the Ram 1500 right to the hut and parked on the ice. 4x4 Low is key as there was about 1.5 ft of snow / slush.

Saturday morning we decided to go out to thier day hut, they said it was $40 for the hut the day before but they transported us out and did not charge us anything. They were about 3km away in also 26ft of water.

Did pretty well.

These were caught in the overnight hut.

Overall it was a great trip. No complaints about the operator.
Friday night out propane was low so we called at 930pm and they were there in 15 min and replaced it.
Provided a ton of minnow's, checked on us regularly to make sure we did not need anything.

I would recommend them.

Ron and his crew were very friendly and easy to get a long with.

Glad to hear you had a good time and some decent fishing, the 24" walleye is a beauty

For all the negative reviews about this place it is nice to read a positive review for a change. I am sure all the operator's on Nip try hard to keep their customers happy.

Great report and porn, thanks for posting.

@anyangle - Got mine from an employer who was giving them out to employee's. Buddy bought one exactly the same and he said his dad got it from Giant Tiger

Yes,
They did their best and were very accommodating.
I think it is also based on how you treat them. They were telling me of some horror stories of how people left hut's, treated their employee's, etc. Respect is important and goes a long way.
As we were leaving the ice the OPP were stationed there stopping everyone coming on and off the ice. Checking their catches also. Nice to see.
There were people we saw out there drinking in their trucks, driving around, etc.
Sunday we saw 8 sled's leave with OPP and conservation officer's.

I had two massive hit's on my tip up that had a 6" sucker on it. One time it took half the sucker the other time, not sure......
Was kinda disappointed I could not catch a big pike or ling, but that's fishing....

Nice report Evanxrs & great pictures..
Thank-you for posting..

Well done on the walleye and that is one fat herring.. At a glance it almost looks like a whitefish, have to do a double take..

I'm happy to hear about the great service from your operator and sounds like you had a great time. All these great reports and reviews are really getting me excited for my trip..

Cheers & Happy Fishing,
Jerry

Great report and excellent to hear the operator did well for you. Your point on the treatment of people is a good one-it is a 2 way street.
Good to hear about the OPP...I have seen and chatted with a few snowmobilers who have had a few...not smart nor safe...I like a few drinks afterwards but not during
Be safe boys

Why do you say that Hooker?? Are you not allowed to keep Herring?

I have never caught one so I wouldn't know.

I was told once by a very experienced fisherman up at Nipissing that the best way to cook a herring was as followed...
Catch a herring
Gut the herring
Fill the herring with onions, peppers, tomatos, mushrooms and add butter and wrap in tin foil
Cook at 400 on a bbq for about 20 minutes
Open tin foil with a knife
Scrape veggies onto your plate
Toss herring in the garbage !!!!!!!!!!

lol

Your allowed to keep them on Nipissing if you want to.

Not sure what the limit would be, I was never interested enough to look it up as I don't ever plan on keeping any.

PickeralStrangler, love your recipe.

Originally we thought it was a whitefish and after I looked a little harder I realized it was a herring and buddy wanted to keep it so he did.

It looks like a football. They would come in, in schools and hit anything.

The OPP officer tried to convince us it was a whitefish. He asked my buddy, what is that fish he said Herring and he said not it is a whitefish. After 2 minutes of going back and forth buddy said ok it is a whitefish.

Was kinda funny.

He ate it that night and said it was good eating.
