What to bring bungalow visit

Hey all I've seen a few lists out and about but looking to hear it from the guys who have been and done it. What did you or did you not bring that you regretted not bring or are happy you had.

Heading up for my first trip next week with the gf to South River resort bringing the camera and gopro so plan on posting a full trip review.

Any fishing tips would be appreciated also. Thanks all

Hey brother! Nice to hear you are headed up to a bungalow for an ice fishing adventure!

Couple of pointers maybe not things shall see as i start rambling.
- Coordinate your meals, make a meal plan and have at least one backup meal
- Travel heavy but light if that makes any sense lol, Bulk up on the stuff you know you will need and lighter on the maybe stuff.
- Be prepared to move, bring an auger and stay mobile. Some of the overnight bungalows have a reputation of being party shacks leading to excessive noise and lots of unsavory items dropped down the holes.
- Keep your booze inside the hut, OPP and ministry patrol the village quite frequent and will nab you for out of residence drinking while outside the hut. (experience)
- If you and friends have similar gear, terminal stuff try and coordinate so you only bring a couple of the items again heavy on the needed items light on the maybes.

Now a quick list of stuff i normally bring:
Fish crisp/Oil/Pan
utensils/cups/plates
Boooooze/Mix/Water for cooking
Auger/fuel/hand auger
Extra pail/minnow pail
Chair for outside
Tackle/rods/extra line
Sleeping bag/pillow
Instant coffee/percolator
*****Always assume there is no toilet paper*****

This list is off the top of my head and hey its still early, im sure some of the other board members will have more to add but hopefully this serves as a good baseline for you!

Blue tooth speaker.

Go to a dollar store and grab yourself tongs, a spatula, large spoons and any other kitchen utensils you may need, ie can opener. Also grab a cutting board and chefs knife ($3) from the dollar store. For a few bucks you'll have piece of mind that you have what you need.

If you have the space bring up a Tassimo or Keureg machine.

Flash light of some sort.

Lysol or Kirkland disinfectant wipes.

Paper towel.

Headlight
Baby Wipes
Aluminum Foil
Dish Towels
various sizes of screw in hooks
Electrical Tape
Ice cleats
Camping toaster

if you own one or have access to one bring a generator, a lot of the operators huts are wired for them. I brought mine up and we had a toaster,charge the phones,much brighter lighting at night,plus a outdoor light,run the tv without draining the battery,electric deep fryer,heating pad for the back

Headache meds for the mornings in case the hair of the dog isnt enough

fishing license!

-Bottled water as well as a full water jug for washing, dishes etc.
-Battery operated aerator/batteries to keep those minnows lively
-We bring up a dollar store plastic tablecloth to use as a curtain over the window, if you can find one with a felt backing on it even better, pins or tape to hold it up
-cast iron frying pan/lard for a fish fry
-paper towels
- extra rods if you have them in case you lose one down the hole
- we bring up a magnet tied to a string just in case something goes down the hole
-slippers or comfortable shoes for inside
-radio or some sort of tunes

Best fishing tip - stay off the bottom to avoid catching mud puppies, about a foot off the bottom should get you some good action.

Awesome guys really appreciate it. I didn't know you could go do day trips on your own I will def being my hand auger than. I'm going to be using the outfitter for transportation so don't want to go to crazy with a pop hut lol.

Great advice on booze in the hut and advil.

Hopefully during the week it's not a gong show of partying out there.

Yea I'm think three cases of water should be good for the two of us.

Friends that you can get along with for 3 days

A suggestion for the smokers in the crowd. Bring a metal or glass container to dispose of your butts. Nothing like showing up at the hut and scooping butts out of the hole before you start fishing.

Take your pop up most opperators have lots of room for transport, as long as their is room in the truck we alway's take take one

Your booking with the wrong operator if you've showed up for your hut and there was cigarette butts floating in the water... Time to change..

J... Everything is in the huts at South River Resort and if it ain't Steve would probably get it for you.... Dishes, cooking equipment, utensils just about everything you could think of is in his huts.

Maybe so, but if the butts weren't thrown in the hole the op wouldn't have to scoop them out.
