Unregistered

46cm converts to 18.11..." Ontario's fishing regulations are in metric; inches are shown in parenthesis for reference.

I will be there June 7th. What is the water temp? Last time I was there the main spot for walleyes over 18 inches was Wasi Falls. The flats were productive at night but not big fish. Other areas were between the two small islands (Darling, McPherson) and Victoria Island. Lots of medium size rocks that provide cover for walleyes. Good Luck!!

I'll be up fishing Callander Bay next week from the 22nd to 26th. It's an annual event but this year could be tougher than most. We usually fish the channel in front of our cottage (Glen Echo) but occasionally head over to the Sand Flats. I just joined this group this morning hoping to gain (& share) some info while we're up there.

Smallmouth and pike only this weekend. Just couldn't locate the walleye.

Didn't spend a load of time fishing, but went to several regular spots from summer months and also tried to find some in shallower water over in South Bay area, no luck.

Last time we went blue & white jigs out fished all other colors. Sounds like there will be plenty of walleyes but not many over 18.1. I will be at Glen Echo on June 7th. Just read the regs and found out Wasi Falls is off limits until May 31st (fishing sanctuary) never knew that. Good Luck. Let me know how you do.

We are in the North West bay and our guests pulled out about 12 to 15 walleyes over. Most reported just a few caught under. They did better early morning then evening. Lot's of Pike and Perch as well.

My wife and I fished for barbotte mostly, (catfish) All kinds of those around. Picked up several Sheepheads too. 2 of them well over 15 lbs. Still one of the best fights out there bar none.

Overall been very good out there. There are so many more species out there to fish. We had a few Blackened Catfish dinners and our guests were floored at the taste.

Easy for me to say because I haven't made it up yet, but assuming the coldest winter in almost 40 years and below avg. temps so far that the walleye need a super slow presentation with the white jigs. Also, I love the sand flats at low light times but I bet this year you're going to find them more shallow than normal. Try even tossing a spinner into a weedier area or back troll a harness/crankbait. I never catch more than a couple in mid day conditions and end up fishing for pike 10am until after 6pm. No sense and trying all day for a couple when there is monster pike and you can get 6 walleye in minutes once the lights dim! Since they school, I tend to move on quicker than most as likely the next 2-3 you spend time catching will be a similar size if your original is under 18.1". Well thats my two cents! See ya up there in a couple weeks!!

Got back yesterday after spending 4 days fishing out of Glen Echo. Not as many walleye as other years & none over 46cm although a few were very close. The MNR was 'pulling over' every boat & one of our guys got a $150 ticket for expired licence....(FYI, they no longer send out renewal notices (email or snail mail) so make sure you're up-to-date). We also caught an assortment of small pike, perch, drum, & some monster smallmouth (4-5lbs) that were hitting tiny jigs meant for walleye.
