Thanks everyone.. The derby is now over. Since there were no entries for the 30" plus gamefish and 14" plus panfish, I will re-work the % payout for the categories. Give me a day or two to get organized and I will setup the Live stream Youtube (i never did one before, but I think I can figure it out.. )
Yes Dale, next year, I will include rainbows / steelhead.. I wasn't sure because I thought a 30" steelhead was easier to catch than a 30" lake trout (especially for those fishing northern lakes). On Simcoe, I believe a 30" Lake Trout is more feasible. Although I think a pike could have taken this category with more probability. Just figuring from my own experiences as I have caught all three species in the 30" plus range and for me northern pike and steelhead in "trophy" size have been easier to accomplish. For 14"+ panfish, I have done this once with perch and a couple of times with crappie.

Ok I am working on finalizing this Derby.
The Total prize pool was $180.
There were 9 tickets bought for Panfish ($90) & 9 tickets bought for Gamefish ($90) with a total of 11 participants.
I bumped up the price pool to $210 to make the payout math a bit better.
Since there were no entries for 14" plus panfish and 30" plus gamefish, I adjusted the winnings per category.
This is the new payout
1) Under 12" panfish (~28%) = $30 2) 12" to 14" panfish (~48%) = $50 3) Random Draw all panfish entries (~24%) = $25
1) Under 20" gamefish (~28%) = $30 2) 20" to 30" gamefish (~48%) = $50 3) Random Draw all gamefish entries (~24%) = $25
Total payout = $210
Hope this is good. I know it was a last minute derby launch and some people wanted other payment options. I will see what can be done for next year. Overall this was a nice all online "test" derby and the format worked and I really enjoyed seeing the entries come in. Thank-you to everyone who joined.
I will work on setting up the live video stream to choose the 6 winners. I will let you know what day and time for those that want to watch live - I will try for Monday night around 8 PM.
Again thanks for participating and happy fishing...

OK confirmed... I will choose the winners tonight,
Monday March 20th @ 8 PM
I figured out how to do a LIVE stream..
Mykola, yes I thought about running other derbies during softwater, BUT we get the most traffic on the site during the ice fishing season, so the derby gets the most exposure in winter. Not sure where everyone goes during softwater, it's like they stop fishing? LOL..
I understand that not everyone has a boat, and softwater fishing can be more expensive, with towing vehicle, boat, motors, parking, ramp fees etc.. Ice fishing in general is more affordable, you really only need, a coat, a rod, a bucket, a hand auger and pair of boots and you are fishing...
