Was out Thursday from PB. Travel by sled was easy, ATVs out getting around without issue. Top was soft by afternoon, only first 1-2" on the white ice - but travel was still good. Shoreline holding well so far, but the first 500m of ice is rough from the traffic and latest thaw.

Ice has compressed to a layer of white on top, but there is still a void here and there where the slush layer had formed. Where the ice appears glare the void is minimal, where the ice is white that layer can be significant and could be a problem for ATVs when the melt starts, whether that is today or when, who knows.

Good news is there is still lots of black ice, so cross your fingers it holds for a bit.

Going out again with the sled today, will post a report.

Fishing was steady but lot of small fish, 8s and under hitting minnow, the few keepers I got into hit firmly on various baits, nothing consistent. But a day sitting open in the sun? priceless, except the aloe for my crisped face.

Conditions haven't really changed. Beautiful day out there and the ice is holding well.

Likewise. I'm sure the ice surface will be fine - the white ice likely gone after the warm spell. But I am starting to worry about shoreline as I look at swollen creeks and rivers in the area.

Fished out of PB Thursday-Saturday. Conditions for ATV travel were pretty good. More slush and breaking through the top layer each day but good hard ice underneath. Other than a couple areas we had no issues. In a standard Ranger clearance was not a problem.

Fishing was decent but could not out run the dinks. Found fish in lots of locations but same story. Some good fish in the mix but lots of sorting and keep away from smaller schools.

Good luck to all that are able to get out before ice out. We will be back next year to try our luck again.

Out there now and same thing for us with the drinks.
Ice is solid though, no slush or snow.
Running water near shore/launch by Casey's but once out it's clear.
Over 15 inches of solid ice out where we are.
