Before the story begins, just wanted to say thank you. Some amazing people have been out there helping their neighbours and communities for over a month now. The beautiful sounds of birds singing in the morning, has been replaced by the grinding sounds of chainsaws and woodchippers. Tall snow drifts from a long winter, have been replaced by a gauntlet of tree limbs and branches along the streets of cottage country. The piles of wood look like old fences up and down the roadways, from Peterborough to Orillia. House after house, competing to see who can create the highest wall of wood. It will take months for some communities to get all the damage cleaned up. I won't bore you too long with a speech. Here is a picture of what many seniors and thousands more in cottage country are dealing with, since the ice storm. Thanks again to anyone that pitched in to help their community. Just finished this tree on Friday. I am kind of an artist with a chainsaw. But my work is slow. I take my time, no need for injuries. Chainsaws can bite, and are as dangerous as a shark.

Started fishing Saturday at 10am. Fished all day, and all night until 6am today. Crappie and bass during the sunlight hours. My friend and I caught over 100 of each species yesterday. All the fish were small, but it seemed like a fish was caught almost every cast. There was hundreds of small bluegill and perch mixed in one giant school with the bass and crappie. I don't bother with setting the hook on small bluegill or perch. It's just a waste of time. Here is what we used all day for bait, in very shallow water. Quarter ounce jig under a slip bobber, 6 inches under the surface.

After 7pm it was out in the boat to see the sunset and look for bigger crappie. We did not find the big crappie just smaller ones but caught quite a few walleye.

Didn't find the monsters I was looking for but kept a few like this for breakfast. My bait was 3.5 feet under the surface fishing in 6 to 8 feet of water last night. Slip bobber again with a quarter ounce pink jighead.

A small school of larger blue gill were mixed in with the crappie. And again, many more walleye after dark. A great start to my fishing season for one day at least. Back to the chainsaw tomorrow, weather permitting. Stay safe.

Good to see you at your favourite species again Jamie....well done sir.
Arnie
Thank you Arnie. Went back out for a short couple hours before dinner today. Cloudy then sunny, cloudy then sunny. When the clouds come out the crappie look up higher at the bait. When the sun comes out the crappie hit level on the bait. Caught a few catfish today and a few bigger crappie for dinner tonight.

Great work in your community!
Awesome fish as always CM.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Smitty. Still lots to do seems everywhere up here. A neighbour's house still has a tree on the roof. Rain tomorrow so maybe it's a fishing day/night.
