Very nice Ralph. My son in Ottawa sent me a picture couple weeks ago of a Pileated on his feeder, but his feeder was half the size of the wood pecker, it was funny to see.. All I get are sparrows, junco's and downy woodpeckers.

Cool. Both the pileated and red-bellied. All we have here so far this winter are a couple of hairy woodpeckers (we know at least two because of the different colours around the heads of the birds), chickadees, both species of nut-hatches and blue jays. No juncos this year for us...yet.

Very nice Ralph. Great to see these birds
My feeders have had only common sparrows and a few juncos and the odd chickadee. Bluejays and cardinals have been scarce. I am in the city so can't complain much for what I get here, since I am in a busy and noisy area.

These guys keep coming to the morning dove feeder. They think they are birds i guess
I miss seeing those guys. I don't think we get them up where I live...only snowshoe hares it seems (so far, only seen a handful but their tracks are everywhere in the snow - love how they are almost all white in the winter, and mostly brown in the summer but during the transition seasons, they are mottled). When they are white, they seem cuter (maybe because they are a bit fatter at that time of year?) than when they are brown...a bit nastier looking at times.

Great pic of bunnies at the feeder.
In the deep snow they don't have much greens to feed on and seeds will do... I have one bunny that visits the feeder (nightly, he/she is nocturnal). Lives under the deck.
Had an unwanted visitor today thou.. A sharpie hawk took out a sparrow.. Saw the feather plume mess in the snow.. No birds visiting the feeder for the rest of the day.
I know they got to eat too,.. But go hunt somewhere else.. LOL

Just got a new species for us this year. Looked out at the bird feeder this morning and saw a smaller woodpecker than we are use to this winter...a downy. And the coolest thing was that a hairy was on the tree beside it so we got a really good look at both more or less together. Clearly different is size but sometimes when you only see one, you don't get that same perspective of how much smaller the downy is. And of course the beak sizes are a give away as well.
