Hoping to come up early march for a few days Can someone give information on thickness of ice and how much snow cover is presently on the ice. Is it going to be too much for a senior to hand auger his way thru the ice? Thamks in advance

the youngest guy is just over 40 the rest of us are over 65 so you know who will be augering and who will be watching About 20 years ago I auger thru
40 inches of ice with an 8 inch auger putting me on my knees to get thru and if it would have been 1 inch thicker the handle on the auger would have bottomed out. After that I gave the 8 inch auger away and went to a 6 inch I never seen that much ice again,, It was in the area of the manitous when the glenwood was still operating.

it funny the progress of a person and getting though ice. I started out with a spud, once started out at the top with a hole about 16" square at the top and when I finally got through about 36" down I hit a sand bar with about 6" square hole and had to move, never drill to may holes. than ice got thinner and I bought a gas auger, had that for a few years and than moved to electric drill and ice got thinner yet also got a whole lot older.
