Staying at a place on the north shore of Kempfelt Bay this weekend, wondering what fish are around this time of year in the bay? (Was thinking maybe trying for some smallies/perch) are there lakers/ whitefish around or any tips on what might be good to target?

I don't fish Kemp much any more (due to parking restrictions), but there will be bass, pike and perch throughout the bay. You'll find lakers and whitefish in the traditional areas (deep).
Perch and pike will be around weedlnes. The north shore is a little deeper than the south shore, but I've done well for bass fishing off some of the points where they come out shallow and drop off into the deeper water.

Thanks- Will give it a whirl, I’ve only ice fished for lakers and whitefish, will similar tactics work this time of year? Or do you need to troll for lakers

Seems no one trolls for trout anymore on Simcoe. Most wander around until you find fish, anchor or spot lock and use fairly heavy jig with tubes or rubber tails. Hang 10-15' off bottom and when you see the trout rise off the bottom on your electronics, start reeling up.

Gunna be in a canoe lol so we’ll see how adventurous we get heading out- prob just fish mostly the ledge along the north shore.. thanks for the tips
If you're along the north shore, it tends to be fairly sheltered except for an east or south wind. (especially for a canoe). You'll find perch and bass and the occasional pike there. Lakers might be a challenge without electronics. Good luck and watch the winds.
