Hey Alan,
I never used Erie Dearie but judging by the looks of it I would say that for sure they can be used but they are more suitable for trolling than casting as spinners are more compact and therefore easier to cast, especially around weeds and through the weeds, as the front weight of an Erie dearie will likely be snagging more weeds than simple spinner. A lot will depend on the depth you're fishing at. Good luck!
