Bass opener for me was more like walleye opener. Caught 4 walleye. 19, 18 16 and 14.5. Also caught a 2.5 lb smallie lost a big one as well as a large pike. Kept the small walleye it was fat and the smallie. If anyone is wondering what the bass are feeding on , i can tell you ( crayfish) there were 22 crayfish in the belly plus what it spit up in the live well. It was very windy so i had to limit where to fish to stay out of the wind. I saw a few smaller boats with 4 people in them that probably should not have been out.

Great bass/walleye opener, Flexx!
I would take anytime that bass opener catching 4 decent walleyes

Some quality fish and also quality pictures. The weather was picture perfect and the fish was cooperating, what else can one wish for.

I know that those smallies love crayfish but man, was this buddy gulping on them big time.

........I saw a few smaller boats with 4 people in them that probably should not have been out.

After some people post about a few incidents on Balsam on Friday, I found the official article.

Unfortunately every year we are hearing stories like that . And this could have been easily avoided if people were a bit more, how I would put it, .... smarter.

Thanks JB. People have to use common sense out there in rough water. Knowing the capability of your boat and personal skills goes a long way. Putting your life in danger is not worth any fish

Those are some great pictures and fish. Fishing is always good after the wind stirs up the crayfish. If the crayfish are out in the open where I can see them around the rocks that tells me the fishing will be good at night. If they are hiding under the rocks then it's going to be a long night. As for all that wind on Friday and Saturday...made some calls to my friends and told them not to go out in it. You and JB did it right. Know your limits and your boats limits. There are some people that just don't get it and you need to explain it to them over and over again. And some guys don't ever get it..... like this guy in the picture.
