Hi, staying at the end of Wolseley Bay, by Wolseley River, for next couple weeks.

First time here looking for tips for walleye and muskie. Have been out as far as Rainy island, I think thats its name, caught a couple bass and a pike but really looking for walleye or muskie.

Thank you for any help you can get me started with.

Musky are hard to find but have monsters in there. There are so many spots its tough to say one particular spot. Start with finding weeds.

Walleye - I stick to current areas in the spring then move to adjacent bays further from current as the year progresses. Main current areas are chaudiere dam, cedar rapids, restoule river, five fingers, and the pine rapids. Jig and minnow on bottom in 20 - 50ft of water around current is my standard.

There is so many spots its endless at the french but you need to get further than rainy island. That is just the start of the journey. Wolseley bay is the highway get out and explore but be careful and respect the shore lines. There are rocks where you would think there should be.

Buy a map from Harold at wolseley lodge, pick an area and fish it hard.

good luck and report back!

Thanks pumpkinseed55,

My daughter (10 years) was able to catch a 18" walleye, her first ever, so your advice is greatly appreciated. She also caught a couple catfish and a big sucker, both firsts as well, so she's a happy kid. Nobody seems to be doing any better that we have talked to.

Thanks again.
