Wondering what everybody thinks of the new work done at the end of Gilford Road? I was reading another forum where there were a lot of people complaining that they were trying to block access for ice fishing...

From the pics I have seen it looks like a nice clean access point for walkers. Not sure if sleds or ATVs will fit through so I can see the argument that its blocking access, but machines can easily be launched from 89 am I right? In my opinion this will make Gilford Road a better access for walkers, as there wont be as much of a worry for the shoreline getting busted up by machines and run off from "the pump"

Let's hear what others have to say.

If anybody has pictures please post !!

From what I can see, most ATV or Sled can still fit through the opening and there are no signs indicating that they are not allowed to do so (it's a 58" wide opening). Trailers or permanent huts will have to use hwy 89 access.

At 58" an ATV will fit through no problem.

This was probably constructed in an attempt to keep cars/trucks off the ice.

For launching your big boat, you can use the nearby (just north of Gilford Road) newly-build and nice launch at end of Hwy 89 (which becomes "Shore Acres Drive" close to the launch/lake). I was there this past Sunday, and there were lots of big boats launching from there.

Not sure if anything has changed, but there are a few spots around to park on the road, but they tend to fill up early. There is also a public lot down the road, but I hear the prices are steep.

If you have a boat and trailer you have to park in the lot. No road parking.
