Hi everyone,

Four of us are heading up to Lake Nipissing for Mar 2-5 to do some nice relaxing fishing. I know the water on the ice situation has been a problem but we have been told it is still a go. Will keep everyone posted as we go...hopefully nice pics and the fishing will pick up while we are there

Good luck! Give'em hell gentlemen.

Jigemup.. @ this point I believe that will be a negative on the SUV. We got a butt-tonne of snow up here, with more on the way. Warm weather/rain only compounds the problem (doesn't cause it). It's the weight on the ice pushing it down that causes massive amounts of slush. You don't want to play with heavy toys in that crap.

We got a machine royally stuck on a back lake some years ago. When all was said and done we abandoned the excursion.. never wet a line. I was so taxed I slept 14 hours back @ camp and my arm shook lifting a can of pepsi to my mouth.

Thanks for the heads up. Iím hoping I can at least get an ATV out there next weekend. Nobody in our group owns a snowmobile.

We had an awesome time staying with Lake Nipissing Ice Fishing Charters. The fishing was slow but in 4 days and 3 nights, we were able to catch:

35 pickerels (all under slot)
1 small mouth bass
1 whitefish
3 jumbo perch
1 minnow by fluke LOL
and 3 mudpuppies (always around at night)

All these fish were put back into the water. Surprising no pike. We always catch pike in Nipissing but nothing this time around. We were fishing in 29 fow and the sonar was marking fish but they weren't biting as often as we saw them. The ice was about 30 - 35 inches thick and there was about 1 - 1.5 feet of really hard snow to walk on. If driving on the ice, try to find a plowed road...it will make your life so much easier. It is easy to get stuck out there.

It was a great 4 days and we will be right back at it again next season
